Challenging the status quo of how education and innovation are designed
Learning Design Consulting
Learning Design as a Service
The Learning Design Tools are just the tip of the iceberg of what we can offer to create effective and engaging learning experiences. For a more strategic consideration of learning design, our Learning Design Consulting may support faculties, schools, universities or institutions in integrating learning design principles as well as defining learning outcomes for their curriculum and program design.
The consultancy may range from covering learning design principles, theory of learning objective or assessment strategy design and the Bloom’s Taxonomy to fostering, moderating and facilitating result-oriented discussions and creative ideation towards new learning interventions. Also the delicate process of creating engaging and inspiring learning experiences on levels of granular learning activities as well as overall course composition can be addressed in the consultancy.
Projects can be tied to concrete contexts and programs or conducted without pre-defined goals as an open-ended process to evolve current learning design paradigms in an exploratory nature. The consultancy is rendered as a service, without any concrete artefacts being created.
Learning Design Sprint
Learning Objectives and Assessment Strategies
For specific contexts, the Learning Design Sprint can support faculties, teachers or staff to articulate a comprehensive set of learning outcomes for learning interventions or corporate learning scenarios. Based on concrete definitions, the design sprint can be performed in a collaborative and workshop-like setting with the immediate outcome of a set of defined learning objectives and constructively aligned assessment strategies.
The scope of the Learning Design Sprint is limited to a finite number of hours within a limited context and defined expected outcomes that are set as configurative parameters for the sprint. Adopting principles from lean and agile methodologies, the design sprint is executed as a discursive practice, iteratively evolving articulated learning outcomes.
The Learning Design Sprint is moderated and facilitated by learning design experts that may take roles of guides or mentors in the process or participate as co-designers in the process, depending on the sprint’s requirements. The outcome of the design sprint is a shareable artefact of articulated learning objectives and assessment strategies for the defined context, maybe it be a course, a series of lectures, a study program or a corporate learning or knowledge management program.
Of course, the Learning Design Sprint is fully customized to the needs of the context and can also involve other areas of learning experience design, beyond the definition of learning outcomes. As an example, the design of concrete learning activities that are constructively aligned to both learning objectives and assessment mechanisms can be addressed in the design sprint as well.
